WHAT AGE GROUPS DOES MERRIMAC FOOTBALL CLUB CATER FOR?

Merrimac Football Club caters for both Boys and Girls aged 5 years through to 13 years old, participating in the Gold Coast Football ‘MiniRoos’ and  ‘Junior‘ Competitions.

At Merrimac, we have both Community Teams and Development Teams

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO BUY?

Merrimac Football Club will supply each player with the own personalised kit (Jersey, Shorts and Socks).  Players need to purchase football boots and shin-pads. Players are required to wear their correct Merrimac Football Club attire and have their boots and shin-pads at all games and training sessions.

WHAT IS MINI ROOS?

WHEN IS TRAINING?

For Community Teams there are two training sessions a week and for Development Teams there are three training sessions a week.

WHAT IS THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM?

MiniRoos is a smaller version of football that provides boys and girls with a fun introduction to the game. It is designed for kids, with the emphasis on having fun, playing with friends & learning new skills. Mini Roos players are children turning 5 to 11 in a calendar year.

Merrimac Football Club Development Teams are for players that are serious about their long-term football development.  Requiring a high degree of discipline over the course of multiple sessions, this highly structured team environment is not for the faint hearted. With strict expectations on attitude, technique and game mechanics, you will be pushed to your limits and challenged to become the best player you can be.  All players are required to attend all training sessions and games as well as wear the correct kits at all times.

AT WHAT TIMES WILL MY CHILD PLAY?

All fixture games are conducted on Saturdays. Generally, the younger ages play at earlier times (starting from 8.30am) and the older age groups play at varying times depending on their draw.
Development teams will also have extra fortnightly games against various clubs across the Gold Coast.

WILL MY CHILD GET INJURED?

IS MY CHILD COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Given it’s a physical sport we can’t guarantee your child won’t incur some physical injuries, but at the Junior level, the rules are modified to make it as safe as possible for all players.

Yes the Club, through Football Queensland, has insurance included in your child's registration fee which you pay at sign-on. This insurance is effective immediately when you register your child.
